2024 Candidates for Town Offices

  • Carleigh Beriont for Select Board

    • Bringing more people into the process of leading our town and helping everyone understand the Select Board’s important work and its impact, Carleigh will emphasize the importance of communications.

    • Creating opportunities for all kinds of families to build community and to connect all-year-round, as a mom of two young kids, Carleigh will focus on the future.

    • Teaching about American History, public policy, and leadership at Harvard, Carleigh believes in knowing where we come from and understanding how our past influences our present.

  • Jeff Grip for Planning Board

    • Seeking to optimize our future without diminishing Hampton's unique historic character, Jeff will work to first understand the positions and acknowledge the passions on multiple sides of an issue.

    • Serving as an at-large member of Hampton's Master Plan Implementation Committee, Jeff is eager to help realize our Master Plan's exciting and ambitious vision.

    • Having served as board member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and now volunteering as Chair for two architectural nonprofit organizations boards, he knows how to contribute effectively.

    • Practicing for 25 years as a leadership psychologist consulting with businesses, Jeff is adept at assessing, developing, and optimizing people for best results.

  • John Tirrell for Planning Board

    • Working as a Professional Engineer in design and construction for 40 years, John is also a former small business owner.

    • Looking forward to helping Hampton as it faces many critical issues, including housing and ocean flooding, John will help the Planning Board embrace the primary challenge of trueing-up our zoning regulations to be consistent with our new Master Plan.

    • Offering knowledge and energy, John will serve the residents of Hampton with a fair and balanced approach to town planning.

  • Bill O'Brien for Zoning Board

    • Offering vast management experience from his time in the United States Air Force, Bill’s 20-year tenure on the Zoning Board provides vital institutional knowledge.

    • Preparing thoroughly for each meeting, Bill evaluates each petition on its own merits to reach an informed and impartial decision, to demonstrate fairness to each applicant, and to protect the character of our neighborhoods.

    • Appreciating the importance of adhering to New Hampshire law, Bill is an expert on Hampton’s Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Board’s rules of procedure.

  • Erica de Vries for Zoning Board

    • Continuing to protect the rights of property owners and preserve the character of our community, Erica is seeking her second term.

    • Volunteering on the Master Plan Implementation Committee as the Zoning Board representative, Erica appreciates the roles and limitations of our various land use boards.

    • Owning a small business and having earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, Erica works to communicate standards, explore the important issues, and ensure that Hampton residents understand the hearing process.

  • Scott Blair for Budget Committee

    • Using his accounting degree to deal with budgets and financial controls in the hotel industry for more than 40 years, Scott knows his way around a set of financials and can bring this strength and experience to effectively represent his fellow citizens.

    • Understanding that budget control and review are about more than just the number – they are about what the longer-term consequences are of doing or not doing – Scott will offer a good perspective throughout the budget review process.

    • Willing to make every effort to represent the interests of all Hampton residents, no matter their economic strata, Scott will be a positive addition to our Budget Committee.

  • Alan Barclay for Budget Committee

    • Owning his own business in town for the past 25 years and owning and managing thirteen (13) rental apartments in Hampton have provided Alan with important insights into responsible budgeting.

    • Bringing the experiences and skills gained from his successful business, Alan will offer an important perspective serving on the Budget Committee.

  • Andrew Morse for Library Trustee

    • Teaching History and Government at Northern Essex Community College, Andrew appreciates the importance of public libraries.

    • Believing that excellent public libraries – open and accessible to all – are vital to a well-informed public, he will be a vital steward.

2024 Candidates for School Boards

  • Leslie Lafond for Winnacunnet School Board

    • Residing in Hampton her whole life, and believing it is important to give back to the town that has been so good to her, Leslie continues to work to strengthen the ties between the school and the community.

    • Having served on the Winnacunnet School Board for the past 12 years, Leslie has the knowledge and insight into policies and procedures that improve student growth and achievement.

    • Advocating fiercely for teachers and students while remaining fiscally responsible to taxpayers and reaching every student and helping them to achieve their best and prepare them to be solid, educated, civic-minded, and caring adults is a hallmark of Lesie’s service.

  • Nicole Cico for Winnacunnet School Board

    • Completing her first term on the Winnacunnet School Board and focusing on issues around mental health and equity while maintaining a fiscally responsible budget that meets student and staff needs, Nicole seeks her second term.

    • Participating in multiple community and school-based volunteer roles, Nicole is passionate about public education and service to our community.

    • Advocating strongly for our school through her experience and by building relationships within the School Administrative Unit, she contributes to the collaborative nature of this multi-community School Board.

  • Wendy Rega for Hampton School Board

    • Believing in public schools as the backbone of our community and committing herself to ensuring that all children have the right to an excellent and fair education in a safe and creative environment that cares for their physical, social, and emotional well-being, we need Wendy on the School Board.

    • Helping to ensure that we fund our schools adequately and equitably is a key feature of Wendy’s leadership.

    • Treating teachers and staff as the professionals they are, as Wendy does, sets a positive tone for Hampton’s School Board.

  • Molly St. Jeanne for Hampton School Board

    • Strongly advocating for students based on her first-hand experience in special education, Molly is seeking her first term.

    • Possessing strong relationships with local parents, teachers, staff, and administration will be an important feature of Molly’s service.

    • Believing that a collaborative mindset is key to optimizing the resources that a public school system can offer, she will work well with other board members and administrators.

    • Committing herself to education since serving as a camp counsellor and taking mission trips to Haiti, Elise is pursuing a career in education.

    • Working as an Education Technician and substitute teacher, Elise appreciates that our public schools require community investment.

    • Having only been out of high school herself for four (4) years, Elise will bring a young adult’s perspective to this committee.

    • Having recently retired after 25 years at Fidelity Investments, Laura will offer her experience in the budgeting process for our shared School Board.

    • Bringing her professional experience in finance, change management, and relationship management, she will be a tremendous asset to this team.

    • Contributing as a volunteer in her retirement has been significant to Laura, especially as she looks to the future of her four granddaughters.

    • Serving as a financial analyst for 14 years, Donna will bring her financial acumen to the budgeting process.

    • Sending her three daughters to North Hampton, Winnacunnet, and then to public universities, Donna is a champion of public education.
